BLOUNTVILLE — A plan to use some of the state’s lottery dollars for building projects at the K-12 level is a likely topic of discussion today for the Sullivan County Commission.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Florida Lottery has made a lot of millionaires — some who don’t even know it. The Lottery says nearly $122 million in prizes have gone unclaimed since the games started in 1988. Winners have six months to claim prizes.

Saturday’s Powerball lottery drew plenty of people to the so called “miracle mile” in Fond du Lac hoping for some extra luck. FOX 11’s Lou Hillman reports on the big lines for the big money drawing.

The lottery was voted into Georgia in 1993 with efforts to raise money for schools. To date, the Georgia Lottery has raised over $5 billion for schools around the state.

The Dispatch used two databases from the Ohio Lottery that show 2007 sales by stores that offer lottery games and people who won a prize of at least $600 last year.
