Lottery formula shouldn’t reward high tax rates (Kinston Free Press)
It’s time to make some changes in the way lottery proceeds are allocated. A move is under way in the General Assembly to do just that. Already, a bill has passed the House to change the school construction formula so that monies are distributed based on enrollment.

Locals scoop lottery prizes (The Fayetteville Observer)
LUMBERTON — Someone who played the state lottery’s Powerball game in Lumberton on Wednesday won $200,000, lottery officials said. As of Friday, the winner had not claimed the prize. Neither had someone who won $200,000 in the Powerball game on March 15 with a ticket bought in Lillington.
