ANOKA, Minn. — A Minneapolis man who won $200,000 in the Powerball lottery convinced authorities in Anoka County that he couldn’t afford an attorney to represent him on a traffic violation — so he was granted a public defender.

PHARR - Martinez-Sanchez & Associates Ltd. claimed the winning lottery ticket from a March 29 drawing. The estimated jackpot was $13 million, giving the business a lump payment of $8,644,766.

Whiteville has made its way onto the lottery map.  The Columbus County town can claim a millionaire winner in the powerball game.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Ted Strickland’s plan to launch a new video lottery game cleared a 10-member panel of lawmakers Monday without objection.
